How to Apply Individual Lashes for a Natural Look

Date:

In recent years, the beauty world has undergone an eyelash revolution. Due to the growing popularity of social media, video tutorials, makeup experts, and more, false eyelashes are everywhere. From lash extensions to lifts to flexible false lashes, it’s a world that loves lashes, and we just live in them.

False eyelashes are sometimes reminiscent of a pointy, spider-like look, and we can see why. For many of us, thick, fluffy lash strips and separate lashes have created some less successful looks over the years. But this assessment is not entirely fair: while fakes can create an exaggerated, fluffy appearance, their capabilities go beyond luxury. They also worked on emphasizing natural features to create a relaxed, straightforward look. The secret of how to do this lies in the app.

We know what you’re thinking: no matter how many tutorials you watch, the application of false eyelashes can be intimidating. Between the glue, the tweezers, and that pesky strip, it always seems like something goes wrong. Next, we’ll show you how to use your personal lashes to create your own makeup.

Prepare Your Application

Decide on the Type of Eyelashes

Before you start using them, make sure that the lashes you choose are right for you and the look you want to achieve. The two main categories are striped lashes, which are faster to apply but more difficult to customize; As well as a single lash, it takes longer to stick but can be adjusted. However, there is another, less common false eyelashes: tufted lashes, which are small groups of lashes connected with bands, and one popular version is Lashify’s Gossamer Lashes ($20-$25). Think of them as miniature strip lashes.

The right lash type largely depends on your personal preference, but keep in mind that depending on the type of lash you choose, the application may vary.

Prepare Your Lashes

To optimize your appearance, make sure your lashes are in the best shape. Celebrity makeup artist Ash K. Holm recommends curling your lashes before applying them to give your makeup a more sculpted look: “I have to do this when I’m applying eyelashes to a celebrity client. ”

Holm believes that when it comes to applying strips or individual lashes, a little mascara can go a long way. “Before applying each lash, apply a thin layer of mascara,” she says. “A coat is enough! This helps the app look natural and blend in.”

For Lashify, keep your lashes completely clean. In order for the tufts to bond together with your natural lashes, they must be free of makeup and oil, so you may want to prepare with a product like Bioderma’s Sensibo H2O Micellar Water ($11). Lashify lashes also need to be bonded before applying the adhesive – the brand’s Whisper Light Bond ($28) is ideal. Apply directly to the lashes like mascara – it will become transparent and one layer will suffice.

How to Apply Personal Lashes

Let the Adhesive Become Sticky on Your Hands

For single lashes and strip lashes, glue or adhesive is applied directly to the lashes. “The glue should be exposed to the air for about a minute before you start using it,” advises professional makeup artist Krissy Vanderwoude. “This gives the glue a chance to become slightly sticky, which will help build up the bond when applying the lashes. If the glue is too wet, it may move over the eyes or slip off in the blink. To give the glue time to become slightly sticky, simply place it on the back of your hand for about a minute.

Soak the Eyelashes in Glue

For Lashify, the glue is applied directly to the lashes, but instead of following the lash line, the glue is applied to the underside near the base of the lashes. Keep in mind that a little bit can go a long way when it comes to applying glue. It can be helpful to apply a little glue to your hands first, then use tweezers to pinch the lashes and apply them gently.

Apply Lashes from the Inner to Outer Corners

“When putting eyelashes on yourself, tilt your head back while looking in the mirror for a better placement,” Holm says. Van der Wade recommends using a magnifying glass. “This allows your natural lashes to be unhindered,” Holm adds. “When you move to the inside corners, start using shorter-length individuals.”

For a single lash, use tweezers and lift the lash through the unknotted end. After dipping the knotted end in the glue,”place the glued end on the lash line, starting at the inner corner, as close to the eyelid as possible, and repeat the process until the desired look is achieved.”

When applying lashes, apply them from the inside out. “This helps prevent gaps in the app,” Holm says. Vanderwald adds,”To maintain symmetry, rotate both eyes each time you lower your eyelashes, so that the lashes on each eye are in the same position.”

For a more natural look, Holm recommends filling only sparse patches to blend in with your natural lashes. For a more dramatic effect, she recommends sticking each lash closer together.

Many of the same principles apply when using Lashify, but instead of applying the lashes to the lash line, the lashes are applied to the base of the lashes. Use a magnifying glass for the best view. Lift each eyelash with tweezers and place it on the glue dot that was made earlier. It should be located just above the base of the lashes. Hold here for a few seconds and then repeat the process. Beginners may need to purchase the brand’s control suite ($125), which includes everything you need for seamless application.

Just like above, it’s best to start at the inner corners and work your way out. Once the lashes are applied, use tweezers to fuse them together. Curved tweezers, such as Tweezerman’s Lash Assist ($19), are best suited for this situation.

Adjust as Needed

Whether it’s your first time or your 101st eyelash extension, false eyelashes don’t always look perfect all the time. Often, they need to make some adjustments. If a person is acting abnormally or acting funny, don’t be afraid to remove it and reapply it.

“Never let your eyelashes hang down your eyes,” Holm advises,”it will make your eyes droop.” Be sure to measure and trim your lashes if needed.”
